The Nike Zoom KD 10 "Hyper Turquoise" is another shoutout to the Bay Area's Chinatown history.
Following the first instalment run, this is basically a flip on the original City Pack release on the KD 10. On that first pair, we get a Racer Blue base colour, followed by a combination of Crimson and Hyper Turquoise accents.
This time around, the scheme is reversed to feature the Turquoise hue, giving the iteration a different and distinctive look. As with the former release, this edition features the contrasting notes as sections on the outsole.
The functional specifications are the same as we would see on other KD 10 models. The highlights include a Flyknit upper, with Nike's advanced woven fabric covering the upper entirely.
Exposed lacing comes together with this base material to make for a fairly impressive support and fit profile. Underneath all of this is a cushioning set up that is largely similar to the KD 9.
Max Zoom, the whole way through, serves as arguably the best Nike has to offer in terms of impact protection. Segmenting this section means the forefoot area is separate from the rest of the midsole, allowing for some flexibility.
The Nike Zoom KD 10 has gone through some interesting unintentional PR. Sure, the colourways are pretty much all gorgeous and the shoe itself is pretty easy on the eyes. But, on more than one occasion, we've seen Kevin Durant himself fly right out of his shoes.
It's strange to see a combination of Flyknit and bulky lacing fail to keep a foot stable. Then again, the shoes we get in stores and the one KD wears on an NBA court are unlikely to be the same. Allowing for some variability here and there, this is a very solid effort from the folks over at Nike Basketball.
